2026 at SELAH!
Here is a quick look at the months ahead.
Saturday Drop In at Silver Lake Community Church had more than 6,000 attendees in 2025
A message from our Executive Director.
“Our community-led programs have never felt more vital. Driven by local events and the powerful insights of our unhoused neighbors and volunteers, we’re launching several initiatives this year to strengthen how we serve our community.
Thank you to everyone whose deeply local work is making L.A. a place where every neighbor can thrive. Together, we’re transforming the way our city sees homelessness – one relationship, one neighbor, one block at a time.”
We’re Investing in People.
Participants as Program Leaders: Our programs will continue to be shaped by our participants through leadership roles and routine surveys. In recent years, more participants have become volunteers leaders, informing and driving the everyday work. This year, we will work to formalize the participant volunteer program.
The Revamped Volunteer Experience: We’re launching new volunteer orientations, Summits, and training materials – from a Volunteer Handbook to Site Lead Manuals and more! Our goal is to create a clear path for the SELAH volunteer journey. Whether you’re a returning volunteer, a Lead, or a Program Director, we want you to engage with your neighbors the way you feel is most powerful.
We’re on the hunt for new volunteer software to make the sign up experience smoother – if you have recommendations, please let us know!
Staff Changes: Did you know there are 5 staff members (and 755 volunteers)?
Maebe Pudlo is shifting into the role of Program Manager and will be part-time starting March 1 to increase time on her State Senate campaign
Angela Mendoza is our new Associate Director of Development and Operations
Mindy Le is our part-time Administrative Coordinator
Programs & Spaces Are in Transition.

We’re scouting for a new weekday location in Los Feliz, East Hollywood, or Atwater Village. If you have leads on a site or ideas for the new program, please contact contact@selahnhc.org
To provide more consistent support for our neighbors in Hollywood, we’re increasing our Sunday programs at The Center from twice a month to weekly, starting in June!
Willow Brook Collaborative on the Move: Our shared administrative space (with partners like Hollywood Food Coalition, Heart Forward, and The Center) is looking for a new home after June 2027 (updated!). Are you a broker or real estate agent? Email ed@selahnhc.org
Tour the FISH Warehouse: What’s FISH? Come see where the food rescue magic happens and where SELAH stores all of our supplies! Join us for a tour on April 9. Sign up here.
Our Hollywood team launches weekly programs in June 2026!
The Big Picture.
Digital Refresh: We’re redesigning the SELAH website, newsletters, and social media strategy to better tell the story of our neighbors and make resources more accessible.
Financial Integrity: We are currently undertaking our self-imposed bi-annual financial audit to ensure we remain the reliable, transparent organization you trust.
What’s on our mind? The World Cup in June-July will be a major preview of how Los Angeles handles the spotlight. The new L.A. County Homeless Services and Housing Department will dramatically change the local homelessness landscape starting in July. And ever-shifting public benefits, like SNAP changes, continue to pose daily challenges for vulnerable neighbors.
